🏆 The RĂ©union PĂ©tanque Cup, a major competition

The RĂ©union PĂ©tanque Cup , a highlight of the local calendar and the last major competition organized by the regional committee for the season after a series of championships, was held on the weekend of August 9-10, 2025. This major event brought together around 700 players .

For adults , the competition was held in triplets . Among the women, around fifty teams competed, while more than 160 men's triplets were in the running. The qualifying phases on Saturday took place at four separate sites: at the 17th km in Tampon, Saint-BenoĂźt, Bois-de-NĂšfles Saint-Denis and Savanna, before the final phases resumed on Sunday morning at the La Montagne bowling alley .

The winners of this 2025 edition are:

  • In the men's competition , victory went to the Franco-Malagasy trio from the Bois-de-NĂšfles Bouliste Club (Bdnbc) , composed of Georges Andriambololona Tovoniaina, Georges Randriambololona Hariniaina and Dylan Andriambololona. They triumphed in the final against the team from the Coral Reef Bouliste Club (Cbrc).
  • In the women's competition , the trio from the West PĂ©tanque Club OcĂ©an Indien (Opcoi) , formed by Virginie Lee-Song-Yin, Juliette Adolphe and VĂ©ronique PĂ©rez, won the cup, beating the representatives of the Association Boules Tamponnaises (Abt).

The RĂ©union Cup also showcased young people , who competed in pairs . Twenty-six youth teams participated, which delighted Bertrand Bertil, the committee's deputy president. Despite a small scheduling error, he highlighted a "rather good turnout" and a positive development for youth pĂ©tanque, with a 13% increase in participants in the championships this year, going from an average of 40-50 in 2024 to 60-70 on the court. He noted the enthusiasm of the young people to compete and play.

Before the main event, the veterans also held their RĂ©union Cup on Friday, bringing together no fewer than 36 teams at the Bois-de-NĂšfles bowling alley. The committee affirmed its intention to continue its efforts not only for young people, but also for women's pĂ©tanque and veterans, to maintain this positive momentum.

Several upcoming events are already on the bowlers' agenda:

  • On Saturday, August 30 , a major event will take place in Saint-AndrĂ© with the inauguration of the new Colosse bowling alley , presented as the largest permanent pitch on the island . Veterans' entertainment finals (doubles) and a mixed doubles competition are planned.
  • Other competitions are also scheduled: August 15 at Chaudron (CBC Grand Prix in mixed triplets), August 24 at Saint-Louis (ASCP Grand Prix in men's triplets and women's doubles), and August 31 at Mont-Vert-les-hauts (AJBS Grand Prix in mixed triplets).
