The Réunion Pétanque Cup , a highlight of the local calendar and the last major competition organized by the regional committee for the season after a series of championships, was held on the weekend of August 9-10, 2025. This major event brought together around 700 players .
For adults , the competition was held in triplets . Among the women, around fifty teams competed, while more than 160 men's triplets were in the running. The qualifying phases on Saturday took place at four separate sites: at the 17th km in Tampon, Saint-BenoĂźt, Bois-de-NĂšfles Saint-Denis and Savanna, before the final phases resumed on Sunday morning at the La Montagne bowling alley .
The winners of this 2025 edition are:
- In the men's competition , victory went to the Franco-Malagasy trio from the Bois-de-NĂšfles Bouliste Club (Bdnbc) , composed of Georges Andriambololona Tovoniaina, Georges Randriambololona Hariniaina and Dylan Andriambololona. The Réunion Cup also showcased young people , who competed in pairs . Twenty-six youth teams participated, which delighted Bertrand Bertil, the committee's deputy president. Despite a small scheduling error, he highlighted a "rather good turnout" and a positive development for youth pétanque, with a 13% increase in participants in the championships this year, going from an average of 40-50 in 2024 to 60-70 on the court. He noted the enthusiasm of the young people to compete and play.
Before the main event, the veterans also held their Réunion Cup on Friday, bringing together no fewer than 36 teams at the Bois-de-NÚfles bowling alley. The committee affirmed its intention to continue its efforts not only for young people, but also for women's pétanque and veterans, to maintain this positive momentum.
